Rethinking Indonesia’s lighting standard for urban kampung roads

Menurut standard SNI 7391:2008, pencahayaan artifisial untuk jalan bertujuan untuk menciptakan distribusi cahaya yang merata agar meningkatkan keselaatan dan akurasi pengendara motor saat berkendara. Namun demikian, jalan lokal di kampung kota seringkali digunakan sebagai ruang publik non-komersial yang membutuhkan pencahayaan berkualitas skala manusia. Riset ini menginvestigasi pencahayaan artifisial jalan di kampung kota Siwalankerto, Surabaya serta kaitan antara perceived adequacy of illumination (PAI) dengan pengalaman penduduk sekitar di malam hari. 26 penduduk lokal diminta untuk menilai pengalaman menggunakan jalan lokal di malam hari. Pengalaman responden di malam hari seperti kesan menyenangkan, keamanan dan kesediaan untuk tinggal dibandingkan dengan kuat terang cahaya (illumination) dan PAI. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan hubungan antara PAI dengan kesan menyenangkan dan keinginan untuk tinggal, tetapi tidak ditemukan hubungan yang kuat antara PAI dan rasa aman.
